Static Charge: Online IGCSE Physics Class
STATIC CHARGE ONLINE IGCSE PHYSICS CLASS
Static charges are electrical charges comprised of Positive and Negative charges. Static charges do not move since it resides statically on the insulators.
Like charges repel while unlike charges attract each other.
How does static charge create?
Static charges are produced when two or more objects are in contact due to friction. To summarise this: All physical objects are made up of atoms. Inside an atom are protons, electrons and neutrons. The protons are positively charged, the electrons are negatively charged, and the neutrons are neutral. Static electricity is the result of an imbalance between negative and positive charges in an object.
Concept
Some atoms have more electrons so they are negatively charged,
Some atoms have fewer electrons so they have positive charges
NOTE: Positive Static Charge are not because of extra protons in the atoms.
